A manor in Aki County, Aki Province. It is also called "Miiri no Sho." It was located in the Nenotani River basin in what is now Asakita Ward, Hiroshima City. It was the territory of Kyoto Shinkumano Shrine. Around the middle of the 12th century, there was a Saniri Ho in the territory of Yamashiro Iwashimizu Hachiman Shrine here, but the relationship with the establishment of Saniri Manor is unclear. In 1221, Kumagai Naotoki of Musashi entered the area as a land steward, and at that time he had 55 cho of rice fields and 19 cho of farmland. After that, he and his younger brother Sukenao (Sukenao) fought over the distribution of the land, and in 1264, the manor was divided into two Naotoki's territories and one Sukenao's territories, and the former came to be called Honjo and the latter Shinjo. A market settlement had already been formed in Honjo at that time. Kurashiki was also established at the mouth of the Sato River (now the Ota River) as a place to store and transport annual taxes. In Honjo, the Shita Jichubun (division of the land) was carried out in 1299, but the Shin Kumano Shrine's territory was limited to eight cho of rice fields, and the rest became the property of the Jito, and the Shin Kumano Shrine's territory became a mere formality.
