Indian astrology is part of a broader field of study called jyotiṣa, which, according to Bārāhamihira, consists of three divisions: (1) tantra, (2) saṃhitā, and (3) horā. Of these, (1) corresponds to mathematical astronomy, and the other two are astrology in the broad sense.
