Tetradecanoic acid. C ₁₄ H ₂₈ O ₂ (228.4). CH ₃ (CH ₂ ) ₁₂ COOH. Found in palm oil, palm kernel oil, etc. as a glycerin ester. Platelet crystals. Melting point 54 °C, boiling point 250.5 °C (13.3 kPa), 199 °C (2.1 kPa). 0.8622, 0.8394, 1.4305. Soluble in methanol, ether, benzene, and chloroform. [CAS 544-63-8]
