A Tibetan Tantric Buddhist ascetic. Author of the collection of Taoist poems "Guru-bhum (One Hundred Thousand Songs)". His real name was She-pe-dorje. He initially fought with his uncle and took revenge by learning the art of killing with curses, but he repented and became a disciple of the great Tantric ascetic Marpa, receiving secret teachings from him. He later went into meditation in the mountains of his hometown, Kuntang, and trained his disciples. His practical teachings were passed down through his disciple Gampopa to a sect known as the Kagyu sect. He has long been revered among the people as a poetic saint and an ideal ascetic. チベットのタントラ仏教行者。道歌集《十万歌(グルブム)》の作者。実名シェーペー･ドルジェ。はじめ叔父と争い，呪殺の法などを学んで復讐したが，改悛して大タントラ行者マルパの弟子となり，秘伝を受け，のちに故郷クンタンの山に禅定して弟子を育てた。その実践的な教えは弟子ガンポパを通じてカギュー派と呼ばれる一宗に伝えられた。民間では，詩聖または理想的行者として古くから尊崇されている。【山口瑞鳳】
