[Postwar Literature]
The Franco dictatorship after the civil war divided the country in two, drove many talented writers abroad and oppressed many talents, leading to a literary barren period for some time after the war. However, the dawn of postwar literature was marked by novels such as CJ Serra's The Family of Pascual Duarte and Carmen Laforet's (1921- ) Nothing, poetry by D. Alonso's Son of Wrath, and theater by A. Buero Vallejo's The Story of a Staircase. Since then, there has been a steady development, and a new momentum has been felt since the death of General Franco in 1975. During this period, the achievements that reached a world-class level in the field of novels could be cited as Martin Santos's The Silent Hour and J.
