An archaeological site located south of Lob Nor in Central Asia. The remains of a capital city and temple were discovered by Stein during an excavation at Loulan in 1906. Documents in Kharoshthi and Brahmi scripts, as well as clay statues and murals influenced by Gandhara, have been excavated, and the murals in particular are valuable as they mark the eastern limit of Hellenism.
