The largest fire in Osaka in the early modern period, which occurred in 1724. It was so named because it started at the home of Kanaya Jihei's grandmother, Myochi, in Minamihorie Tachibana-dori 3-chome (present-day Nishi Ward). The fire burned down everything from Kitahorie and Dotonbori to Awaza, Tachimi-bori, and Edobori, then moved to Senba, burning the bridges over the Higashi-Nishi Yokobori River and Uemachi, and spreading to Nishinari-gun through Nakanoshima and Hachikenya. Two-thirds of the Osaka Misato city area was burned down. 408 towns and 11,765 houses were affected, as well as 1,097 storehouses, 1,544 beach barns, and 33 daimyo residences. The castle daimyos' secondary residences and the East and West Osaka magistrates' offices were also destroyed. It is said that more than 7,000 people died in the fire.
