An independent head temple of the Nichiren sect in Mano, Sado City, Niigata Prefecture. Commonly known as Abutsubo. It is said that Abutsubo Nittoku and his wife Sennichi-ni, who converted to Nichiren during his exile in Sado and protected him by bringing him meals at night while on guard, made their residence into a temple. In 1326, the local lord, the Honma clan, invited them to live on land adjacent to their residence, and after the Honma clan was wiped out in 1589, the remains of their residence became the site of the temple. Remains of the earthworks and dry moat remain. Three letters by Nichiren Shonin and a copy of a sutra by Hino Suketo are designated Important Cultural Properties.
