A diagram used to show the energy distribution of celestial bodies. The continuous spectral distribution of a celestial body is known by measuring the intensity of radiation at several wavelengths. The ratio of the intensity at two wavelengths is called the color, and a two-color diagram is made by drawing many stars of two colors on the same diagram. The choice of the two colors depends on the application. The diagram shows the coordinates B - V , U - B from UBV photometry by Johnson HL Johnson (1921-80). B - V is the ratio of yellow to blue, and represents the gradient of the Paschen continuum of hydrogen, which corresponds to temperature.

天体のエネルギー分布を表すのに使われる図の一つ。天体の連続スペクトル分布は，いくつかの波長の放射の強さを測って知られる。二つの波長での強さの比を色というが，二つの色につき多くの星を同一図にかきこんで二色図を作る。二つの色の選択は用途による。図に示したのはジョンソンH.L.Johnson(1921‐80)のUBV測光から，B－V,U－Bを座標にしたもの。B－Vは黄色と青色の比で水素のパッシェン連続域の勾配を表し温度に相当する。
