Achilles Corporation

A comprehensive chemical products manufacturer. Its origins date back to Tonori Orimono (founded in 1907) during the Meiji period. In 1943, following the Business Reorganization Act, it converted to the manufacture of rubber products as Kokuka Kogyo's Ashikaga Factory. After World War II, in 1947, it acquired equipment and materials from Kokuka Kogyo and established Kokoku Chemical Industry, which began manufacturing and selling rubber products. In 1948, it established "Achilles" as an export trademark. In 1982, it changed its name to its current one. Since the 1990s, it has established production bases throughout China, and in 2008, it established a local corporation in Taiwan. Its three main pillars are various types of footwear, resins (plastics) for flooring and wall materials, and industrial materials such as urethane, and it also manufactures and sells fabrics for rubber boats and other products.

The name of a Trojan asteroid that orbits Jupiter and is located at the Lagrangian point in front of Jupiter. It was the first of the Trojan asteroids to be discovered by M. Wolf in 1906. Its average apparent magnitude at opposition is 15.3, its diameter is about 240 km, its semi-major axis is 5.179 AU, and its registration number is 588.

総合化成品メーカー。起源は明治時代の殿利織物（1907創業）にまでさかのぼる。1943年企業整備令により国華工業の足利工場としてゴム製品の製造に転換。第2次世界大戦後，1947年国華工業から設備，資材を買収して興国化学工業として設立，ゴム製品の製造・販売を開始。1948年輸出用商標として「アキレス」を制定。1982年現社名に変更。1990年代より中国各地に生産拠点を設け，2008年には台湾に現地法人を設立。各種履物，床材や壁材などの樹脂（プラスチック），ウレタンなどの産業資材を三本柱として，ほかにゴムボートなどの引布を製造，販売する。
