A village in Ono County, northern Gifu Prefecture. Population 2,633 (1995). The village and farmland are located in a small basin in the Miyagawa River basin, surrounded by mountains belonging to the Kuraiyama (1,529m) mountain range in the Hida Highlands. Miya Pass, on the border with Kuguno Town to the east, forms the watershed between the Pacific Ocean side and the Sea of Japan side. At the northern foot of Miya Pass is Minashi Shrine, the Ichinomiya of Hida, from which the place name Miya comes. The village's specialties are cypress and yew, and straw hats and yew crafts, which are shipped to tourist bases such as Mt. Norikura, Mt. Ontake, and the Nippon Rhine. 岐阜県北部,大野郡の村。人口2633(1995)。飛驒高地の位山(くらいやま)(1529m)山系に属する山地に囲まれた宮川流域の小盆地に集落と耕地がある。東の久々野(くぐの)町との境にある宮峠は太平洋側と日本海側の分水界をなす。宮峠北麓に飛驒一宮の水無(みなし)神社があり,宮の地名はこれに由来する。村内で産出されるヒノキ,イチイを材料とする編笠,イチイ細工が特産で,乗鞍岳,御嶽山,日本ラインなどの観光基地向けに出荷されている。
