1876-1928 (Meiji 9-Showa 3) A rakugo performer. His real name was Yoshida Matsukichi. He was a disciple of Kyoyama Kyoansai II. He was one of the three giants of the rakugo world from the end of the Meiji period to the Taisho period, along with Touchiyuken Kumoemon and Yoshida Naramaru, and made a great contribution to the success of the Kyoyama school. He was an expert in gidayu, and was renowned for his melody with a stately sound, a characteristic of Kansai arts. He had a large number of records, just like Naramaru, and boasted a wide range of performances, including "Sakura Giminden," "Akagaki Genzo," "Soga Kyodai," and "Kanjincho."
