Kim Won-bong (English spelling)

Japanese: 金元鳳 - きんげんぽう（英語表記）Kim Wŏn‐bong

1898-?
A Korean national revolutionary activist from South Gyeongsang Province. Also known as Kim Wak-san. He was influenced by Shin Chae-ho's ideology. After the March 1st Independence Movement, he organized the Righteous Army and entered armed struggle. In 1935, together with Kim Kyu-sik, he organized the Korean National Revolutionary Party, and after the Second Sino-Japanese War, he led the Korean Volunteer Corps in the anti-Japanese war and was active in mainland China. In 1943, he became Director of the Military Affairs Bureau of the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea (Chongqing), and in December 1945, he returned to Seoul and became Chairman of the Democratic National Front. He opposed the division of North and South Korea and promoted the unification movement, and attended the North-South Joint Conference in Pyongyang in April 1948. He then remained in North Korea, and after the founding of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, he served as a government minister and other important positions.

朝鮮の民族革命運動家。慶尚南道出身。別名，金若山。申采浩の思想的影響を受ける。三･一独立運動後義烈団を組織して武力抗争に入る。1935年金奎植と共に朝鮮民族革命党を組織，日中戦争以後は朝鮮義勇隊を率いて抗日戦に参加し中国大陸で活躍する。43年大韓民国臨時政府(重慶)軍務局長，45年12月ソウルに帰り，民主主義民族戦線議長となる。南北分断に反対して統一運動を推進，48年4月平壌の南北連席会議に出席。その後は北朝鮮に残り，朝鮮民主主義人民共和国創建後は政府閣僚その他の要職を歴任した。
