A former town in Kitauwa District, southern Ehime Prefecture. It borders the northeast of Uwajima City and is connected by the Yodo Line. The main settlement, Miyanoshita, is a rural town that was planned and created by the Yoshida Domain. It produces high-quality Sanma rice, as well as onions and strawberries. It is home to Ryukoji Temple, the 41st temple of the 88 Shikoku temples, and Butsumokuji Temple, the 42nd temple. In August 2005, it was incorporated into Uwajima City along with Yoshida Town and Tsushima Town in Kitauwa District. 56.91 km2 . 6,832 people (2003).
