…The Theosophical Society, which was established for people who wish to learn divine wisdom, has three major goals: (1) the spread of a spirit of fraternity regardless of race, religion, or status, (2) comparative study of ancient world religions and presentation of universal ethics, and (3) research and development of the divine power that lies within each person. This modern Theosophical movement has developed on a global scale, producing such powerful successors as Leadbeater, Besant, Alice Bailey (1880-1949), R. Steiner, and Katherine Tingley (1847-1929), but has declined since the 1930s. However, with the current growing interest in esotericism, it is regaining its vitality and is splitting into the Adialist sect (India, Europe), the Point Loma sect (America), and the Bailey sect. In Japan, the Ryuo-kai, founded by Miura Sekizo, is the representative of the society. …
