A short skirt that reaches above the knee and was popular worldwide from the 1960s to the 1970s. "Mini" is an abbreviation of "minimum," meaning very small. It was introduced by the British designer Mary Quant in 1959 and became popular among young people in London. It was then introduced by French designer André Courrèges in his 1965 collection, and its active nature drew attention, causing a worldwide sensation. In Japan, it was loved by women of all ages, and, together with jeans, it played a major role in the popularization and casualization of postwar fashion.
