Biomechanics (English spelling)

Japanese: バイオメカニクス（英語表記）biomechanics; Biomechanik

It is also called kinesiology or sports mechanics. It is a field of physical education science. The Japanese Society of Physical Education has a specialized research subcommittee. Originally developed for orthopedic surgery, it aimed to study the mechanics of the human body's bones and muscles, but today, research is being conducted on a broader range of subjects such as sports and labor, incorporating physiological and psychological perspectives. It is used to improve sports records, analyze techniques, rehabilitation, and ergonomics. It has replaced the former term kinesiology.

身体運動学あるいはスポーツ力学とも呼ぶ。体育科学の一分野。日本体育学会のなかにも専門の研究分科会がある。もともと整形外科学のために開発された領域で，人体の骨，筋を中心とする力学的研究が目的であったが，今日では，スポーツ，労働などについて広く，生理学，心理学的な見地を加えて研究が進められている。スポーツの記録向上，技術分析，リハビリテーション，人間工学などに活用される。かつてのキネシオロジーの用語に取って代ったもの。
