Japanese: 光田反応 - みつだはんのう（英語表記）Mitsuda’s reaction

An intradermal reaction using an extract from leprosy nodules as an antigen. Just as the tuberculin reaction can determine whether or not a person has been infected with tuberculosis bacteria, this was invented by Mitsuda Kensuke with the aim of being able to determine whether or not a person has been infected with leprosy bacteria through an intradermal reaction, and is also called the Lepromin reaction. The antigen is extracted by boiling leprosy nodules in physiological saline. There are several types of antigenic substances derived from the leprosy bacteria that are negative in childhood, but after adolescence, almost all healthy people react positively. Therefore, contrary to the intended intention, it could not be used to diagnose whether or not a person has leprosy.

癩の結節の抽出物を抗原として行う皮内反応。結核菌に感染したことがあるかないかがツベルクリン反応でわかるように，癩菌に感染したことがあるかないかが皮内反応でわかれば，という狙いで，光田健輔によって創案されたもので，レプロミン反応ともいわれる。抗原は癩の結節を生理食塩水で煮て抽出する。その中には癩菌由来の数系統の抗原物質があって，幼時は陰性であるが，少年期以降は健康でもほとんど陽性反応を生じる。したがって所期の意図に反して癩病かどうかの診断には使えなかった。
