Michiae Festival - Michiae Festival

Japanese: 道饗祭 - みちあえのまつり
Michiae Festival - Michiae Festival
This festival was held twice a year in June and December to worship the three gods Yachimatahiko, Yachimatahime, and Kunato at the four corners of the capital, and to pray for the prevention of evil spirits and demons from entering the capital. In ancient times, it was held twice a year in June and December. Dokyo means to welcome the god of plague along the way and to offer food to prevent it from entering. It was quickly abolished, but traces of the Dokyo festival can be seen in the plague gods being sent away and in the road plague gods being hung at the entrances of villages.
