Mizobe [town] - Mizobe
A former town in Aira County, central Kagoshima Prefecture. The eastern part is the plateau of Juusantukabaru, and the western part is mountainous. There are few rice paddies, but field crops such as vegetables, tobacco, and tea, as well as fruit cultivation, are thriving. Kagoshima Airport is located there, and an interchange on the Kyushu Expressway is adjacent to the airport. In November 2005, it merged with Kokubu City, Yokokawa Town in Aira County, Makizono Town, Kirishima Town, Hayato Town, and Fukuyama Town to become a city, Kirishima City. 63.50 km2 . Population 8,714 (2003).
