[Ancient times]
Kami Province (Engishiki), which belongs to the Tokaido. Approximately 60% of the area is fertile alluvial plain, which is the southern half of the Nobi Plain. Judging from the distribution of ancient tombs, it is believed that powerful clans also had bases in Inuyama and Ichinomiya in the north, and Kasugai in the northeast. However, it was the Owari clan, the Owari kuni no miyatsuko, based in the Atsuta Plateau in the southern part of the plain, who secured the position of control over the entire province. The Owari clan was a powerful clan that flaunted its connection with the imperial family through the legend of Yamato Takeru.
