Yasumura Miura

A military commander in the mid-Kamakura period. Son of Yoshimura. Suruga Jiro. His wife was the daughter of Hojo Yasutoki. In 1221 (Jokyu 3), he accompanied Yasutoki during the Jokyu War and was appointed Wakasa no Kami for his military achievements. In 1238 (Rekijin 1), he was ranked among the councilors and shouldered heavy responsibilities in the shogunate. He strengthened his power by forming a marriage relationship with the Hojo clan, but on the other hand, he became a target of the Hojo clan's vigilance. In 47 (the first year of the Hoji era), the conflict between the Hojo and Miura clans intensified due in part to provocation by Adachi Kagemori, the maternal grandfather of the regent Hojo Tokiyori, and on June 5 of that year, Yasumori, his grandson at Kagemori's command, attacked Yasumura. Tokiyori joined in the attack, and Yasumura and over 500 others took refuge in the Hokkedo temple, Yoritomo's tomb, and committed suicide (the Battle of Hoji).

鎌倉中期の武将。義村(よしむら)の子。駿河(するが)次郎。妻は北条泰時(やすとき)の女(むすめ)。1221年（承久3）の承久(じょうきゅう)の乱に泰時に従って戦功をたてて若狭守(わかさのかみ)に任じられ、38年（暦仁1）には評定(ひょうじょう)衆に列して幕政の重責を担った。北条氏と姻戚(いんせき)関係を結び勢力を強大にしたが、逆に北条氏の警戒するところとなる。47年（宝治1）、執権北条時頼(ときより)の外祖父安達景盛(あだちかげもり)の挑発もあって、北条・三浦両氏の対立が激化し、同年6月5日、景盛の意を受けた孫の泰盛(やすもり)が泰村を攻めると、時頼もこれに与同して攻撃したため、泰村以下500余人は頼朝の墓所である法華堂にこもり自殺した（宝治(ほうじ)合戦）。
