Ezonotsugazakura - Ezonotsugazakura

An evergreen small shrub of the Ericaceae family (APG classification: Ericaceae). The leaves are linear and dense, 6-12 mm long, with grooves on the surface. In July and August, the purple-red, egg-shaped, urn-shaped flowers, 7-10 mm long, bloom downwards on slender stalks with glandular hairs along with the sepals. They grow in colonies in the alpine zones of northern Honshu and Hokkaido, and are widely distributed in the cold zones of the Northern Hemisphere.

ツツジ科（APG分類：ツツジ科）の常緑小低木。葉は線形で密生し、長さ6～12ミリメートルで表面に溝がある。7～8月に紫紅色の卵状壺(つぼ)形で、長さ7～10ミリメートルの花が下向きに開き、花柄は細長く、萼片(がくへん)とともに腺毛(せんもう)がある。本州北部、北海道の高山帯に群生し、北半球の寒帯に広く分布する。
