Space food - Uchuu-shoku (English spelling) space food
Food to be brought on space travel. Due to the special nature of space travel, food items must be as small, lightweight, and nutritious as possible. Furthermore, because of the weightlessness (zero g ), research is being conducted into the ease of intake method. In the case of the United States, the important parts of the food container are the water inlet for injecting water into the package to rehydrate it, and the suction spout for transferring the food to the astronaut's mouth. This is called a dry space food package, also known as a "zero g food container," and the food items it contains include spaghetti with meat sauce, chicken soup, grapefruit drink, shrimp cocktail, beef and gravy, etc. In addition, the usual method of using a spoon and bowl in a weightless state and drinking through a straw is also possible. Nutritional consumption is about 2000 to 2500 kcal (about 8400 to 10500 kJ) per day on average.
