Born June 11, 1911 in Selden, Kansas.
[Died] August 4, 1990.
American philosopher and professor at Cornell University. After graduating from Harvard University's Graduate School, he studied at Cambridge University and studied under Wittgenstein. He is a leader of the American school of everyday language. His major works include Ludwig Wittgenstein: A Memoir (1958), Dreaming (59), and Knowledge and Certainty (63).

A British soldier and politician who played an active role in India. He joined the British East India Company in 1782 and served in India for 47 years from 1783 to 1830. He demonstrated his military and diplomatic skills in the Second and Third Maratha Wars, and continued to play an important role in governing central India. He served as Governor of Bombay from 1727 to 1830.
