A folk tale. An old man with a lump on his cheek or forehead meets an ogre or Tengu in the mountains, and because he is a good dancer, the ogre removes the lump. A greedy old man next to him tries to imitate him, but is no good and is given a lump instead. This story appears in "Uji Shui Monogatari," and we can see that it has been told since the Kamakura period. "Seisuisho" contains a story about a Zen monk who has a lump removed by a Tengu.Old man with a lump removedSource : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
