Born in Toulouse in 1951, French dancer and choreographer. Born to Spanish parents. Studied ballet at the Toulouse Conservatory, and after working at the Strasbourg Opera Ballet, he studied under M. Béjart. After dancing as a soloist with the 20th Century Ballet and other companies, he began working as a choreographer. He won gold medals at the International Choreography Competition in 1977 and 1978. He established his own dance company and released May B in 1981, depicting "death" by covering the dancer's body with white clay, which established his reputation. Since then, he has produced spectacular works that combine theater and dance, such as the masked puppet-style Cendrillon (1985), commissioned by the Lyon Opera Ballet, and Révolución - What Does That Have to Do With Me? (1989), commissioned for the 200th anniversary of the French Revolution, which have attracted much attention. Malang |
