Ama-zu [sweet and sour]

〘Noun〙 Sanbai-zu (a vinegar dish made with mirin, sugar, etc.) is sweetened with vinegar. ※Byōjō Rokujaku (1902) by Shiki Masaoka, 81 "However, when ordering tea dishes from a restaurant, the dishes are the same in every way. They are called miso soup, sweet and sour, bowls, and grilled dishes."
