This war was fought three times between 1775 and 1818 between the British and the Maratha Kingdom in the Deccan region of India, and led to the collapse of the kingdom. At the time, the kingdom was in the form of a confederation (the Maratha Confederacy), but after the death of the fourth Peshwa (victim), Madhava Rao Ballal, in 1772, a fierce struggle for succession came to the surface, and in addition, divisions and conflicts between the confederate princes became evident. At the same time, the British East India Company, which was promoting the territorialization of the Oudh region, intervened in this war, and this war broke out.
