[Infusions]
Fluids include water and salt necessary for sustaining life, sugar, protein, and fat as sources of nutrients, plasma substitutes, and drugs used in various treatments. All of these fluids are adjusted to have the same osmotic pressure and pH as body fluids, and are completely sterilized to avoid damaging blood cells and tissues. Fluids are broadly divided into electrolyte fluids intended to replenish only water and electrolytes, and nutritional fluids intended for pre- and post-operative nutritional management. Physiological saline and Ringer's solution are still widely used as electrolyte fluids due to their ease of use, but as research into electrolyte changes in children and after surgery progresses, physiological saline solutions suitable for various pathologies are required, and various fluids are commercially available, as shown in the table below.

 輸液剤としては,生命の維持に必要な水,塩分,栄養源となる糖,タンパク質,脂肪のほか,代用血漿,各種の治療に用いられる薬剤などがあるが,いずれも,浸透圧やpHが体液とほぼ同程度に調整されたうえ,完全滅菌されて,血球や組織に障害を与えないよう配慮されている。輸液剤は,水分電解質のみの補給を目的とした電解質輸液剤と,術前・術後の栄養管理を目的とした栄養輸液剤とに大別される。電解質輸液剤としては,生理食塩水やリンゲル液が使いやすさから現在でも多く使用されているが,小児あるいは術後の電解質の変動などの研究がすすみ,いろいろな病態に適した生理的塩類溶液が要求され,表に示すような種々の輸液剤が市販されている。…
