Born: March 25, 1803, Almendralejo, Badajoz
[died] May 23, 1842. Madrid. Spanish poet. A representative figure of Romanticism, he wrote many Byronic works of rebellion and disillusionment. His most famous works include El estudiante de Salamanca (before 1840), a Don Juan-themed work, and El diablo mundo (40), a Faustian drama.
