Magnificat (English spelling)
A hymn to the Virgin Mary beginning with "My soul magnifies the Lord." The text is taken from Luke 1, chapter 46-55 and the Little Doxology. It is sung at Vespers in the Divine Office, and is often composed in polyphonic works and for the organ.
