Japanese: 電産 - でんさん

The abbreviation for the Japan Electrical Industry Workers' Union. During World War II, a council (the Japan Electrical Industry Workers' Union Council, or Densankyo) was formed in April 1946 by employees of Japan Electric Power Generation and Transmission Co., Ltd., which was part of the electrical industry, and 10 power distribution companies in nine regions from Hokkaido to Kyushu. Riding on the momentum of winning a Densan-style wage system in the October industrial struggle, this developed into an industrial single union in May 1947. After the Red Purge in 1950, it withdrew from the Industrial Conference and joined Sohyō in 1951, but until then it had been a powerful industrial organization.

日本電気産業労働組合の略称。第2次大戦時，電気産業界に存在した日本発送電株式会社，および北海道から九州までの9地域におかれた配電会社の10社の従業員によって協議会(日本電気産業労働組合協議会＝電産協)が結成されたが(1946年4月)，これが産別十月闘争のなかで電産型賃金体系を獲得した余勢を駆って，1947年5月産業別単一組合へと発展したものである。50年のレッド･パージののち産別会議より離脱，51年総評に加盟するが，それまでは産別の有力組織であった。
