Cannula (English spelling)
A slightly thicker tube that is inserted into a tubular part of a living body, such as the heart, blood vessels, trachea, or an incision or wound. It is used for suctioning bodily fluids and injecting medicine. It is made of glass, metal, plastic, etc. A tube that is inserted into the trachea through the incision after tracheotomy surgery to secure the airway and suction bleeding and secretions is called a tracheal cannula.
