A psychoanalytic concept of the unconscious mind proposed by Heisaku Kozawa. In 1932, he submitted a paper to S. Freud entitled "Two Types of Guilt Consciousness," in which he stated, "The central element of Oedipus desire is the murder of one's father out of love for one's mother. Ajatasatru's murder of his father does not originate from his lust for his mother. Rather, it originates from Ajatasatru's anger that his mother, the source of his life, had betrayed him. In fact, in analysis, in addition to the desire to kill one's father because of love for one's mother, there are mentally ill people who are betrayed by the lust of the mother herself, the source of one's life, and who show a tendency to kill their mother." He named the idea complex that develops around the anxiety and hostility of a child who is betrayed and abandoned by the lust of a woman inherent in the mother, and the fear of being punished for that hostility, the Ajatasatru complex.

無意識心理に関する精神分析的概念。古沢（こざわ）平作によって提起された。1932年，彼はS.フロイトに《罪悪意識の二種》と題する論文を提出し，その中で〈エディプスの欲望の中心をなすものは，母に対する愛のために父を殺害するところにある。阿闍世の父の殺害は，けっして母に対する愛欲にその源を発しているのではない。……むしろ自己の生命の本源たる母が自己を裏切ったとの阿闍世の怒りに発している。実際分析上，母を愛するゆえに父を殺害せんとする欲望傾向のほかに，生命の本源たる母自身の側の愛欲によって裏切られ，母を殺害せんとする傾向を示す精神病者がある〉とのべて，母親に内在する女としての愛欲によって裏切られ見捨てられる子どもの不安と敵意，その敵意ゆえに処罰される恐怖を中心として発展する観念複合体を，阿闍世コンプレクスと名付けた。
