...In Japan, tuna usually refers to a large mackerel-like fish that is eaten raw as sashimi, and for this reason, swordfish are also sometimes called swordfish. The taxonomic genus Thunnus includes seven species: albacore ( Thunnus alalunga ) (illustration), bluefin tuna (Thunnus thynnus) ( illustration), southern bluefin tuna ( Thunnus maccoyii ) ( Thunnus obesus ) (Thunnus albacares) (illustration), blackfin tuna ( Thunnus atlanticus ) ( Thunnus tonggol ) (Thunnus tonggol).
