However, because arbitration affects the jurisdiction of a country, the content of the arbitration laws of each country often differs, and therefore the international commercial arbitration system is used for international transactions. Institutional arbitration by the London Court of International Arbitration, which has a tradition as the center of the international economy, the American Arbitration Association, and the International Chamber of Commerce headquartered in Paris, the European Convention on International Commercial Arbitration of 1961 (effective in 1964, revised in 1966) promoted by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe, which is also used for East-West trade, and arbitration under the 1966 Arbitration Rules of the United Nations Economic Commission for Asia and the Far East (now the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific), which can be considered its Asian version, and arbitration under the Convention on the Settlement of Investment Disputes between a State and a National of Another State (ratified by Japan and promulgated in 1967), promoted by the World Bank, are well known.
