San Joaquin River

Japanese: サン･ウォーキン[川]（英語表記）San Joaquin River

A river in central California, USA. It flows southwest from the Sierra Nevada Mountains, then flows northwest through the Central Valley to a low-lying marshland called the delta, before joining the south-flowing Sacramento River and emptying into Suisun Bay. It is 560 km long, and the downstream 80 km to Stockton is navigable. It has tributaries such as the Kings, Fresno, Merced, Tuolumne, and Stanislaus, and the basin is known as a fertile agricultural area with extensive irrigation. [Yagasaki Noritaka]
