A perennial plant of the Ranunculaceae family (APG classification: Ranunculaceae), a type of monkshood. The stem is hairless, slanting or erect, and grows to a height of about 1 meter, producing blue-purple flowers in September. The flower stalk and stamens are hairless, and the leaves are deeply or completely lobed into three parts and have coarse sawtooth edges. It grows in the temperate mountainous areas of Honshu, west of the Kanto region, and Shikoku. Its name comes from the fact that it was first discovered on Mount Kongo in Kawachi Province (Osaka Prefecture).
