A mountain in southwestern California, USA. It is 1,871 meters above sea level. It is located in the Cleveland National Forest in the Coast Ranges, 80 km north-northeast of San Diego, and is home to Palomar State Park. The Mount Palomar Observatory, which has a 200-inch reflecting telescope, was founded by astronomer GE Hale along with the Mount Wilson Observatory in the northern suburbs of Los Angeles. Today, the two are collectively known as the Hale Observatory. It is jointly used by the California Institute of Technology and the Carnegie Institution for Science. アメリカ合衆国カリフォルニア州南西部の山。標高1871m。サン・ディエゴの北北東80km,コースト・レーンジズ(海岸山脈)中のクリーブランド国有林に位置し,パロマー州立公園がある。この山にある200インチの反射望遠鏡をもつパロマー山天文台は,ロサンゼルス北郊のウィルソン山天文台とともに天文学者G.E.ヘールが創立した。現在は両者をあわせてヘール天文台と呼ばれている。カリフォルニア工科大学とカーネギー研究所による共同利用が行われている。
