Uji no Waki Iratsuko - Uji no Waki Iratsuko

Date of birth and death unknown. Crown prince of Emperor Ojin. His mother was Miyanushiyakahime (Yakawaehime in the Kojiki), the wife of Hifure no Omi, ancestor of Wani no Omi. He studied various classics under Achiki, who came from Baekje, and Wani, who came to Japan afterwards, and was said to have been fully versed in them. The Emperor loved Uji, the younger brother of his eldest son Oyamamori no Mikoto, and his middle son Osasagi no Mikoto, and tried to make him his successor. After the Emperor's death, Uji tried to pass the throne to Osasagi, and they tried to pass it on to each other, but in the meantime, Oyamamori, who was aiming for the throne, was killed by Osasagi. Uji committed suicide and handed the throne over to Oji, who then ascended to the throne as Emperor Nintoku.
