Born: March 17, 1908, Moscow [Died] July 12, 1981, Moscow Soviet writer. Real name Kampov. During World War II, he served as a reporter for the newspaper Pravda and wrote many reportages. He won the Stalin Prize for Povest' o nastoyashchem cheloveke (1946) (A True Story of a Man). His other novels include On a Wild Shore (Na dikom berege) (62) and Doktor Vera (Doktor Vera) (66).
