Cha Jing (English: Cha-jing)

Japanese: 茶経 - ちゃきょう（英語表記）Cha-jing

The oldest book on tea from the Tang Dynasty in China. Written by Lu Yu. Published between the first year of the Yuan Dynasty (760) and the second year of the Guangde Dynasty (763). 3 volumes. The first volume describes the origins of tea, the tools and methods for making tea, the middle volume describes tea utensils, and the third volume describes how to boil tea, how to drink it, literature, and tea-producing areas. There are many variant versions, but the definitive version was created by Chen Shidao of the Song Dynasty. The tea described in this book is unique and different from Japanese sencha and matcha, but it also contains tea that is the origin of Japanese tea ceremony.

中国，唐代の茶に関する最古の書物。陸羽の著。上元1 (760) ～広徳2 (763) 年頃刊行。3巻。上巻は茶の起源，茶を作る道具や製法，中巻は茶器，下巻は煮立て方，飲み方，文献や産地などを記している。異本が多く宋の陳師道によって定本が作られた。本書に記されている茶は，日本の煎茶や抹茶とは異なった独特のものであるが，日本の茶道の起源的なものも認められる。
