Taisei [town] - Taisei

Japanese: 大成[町] - たいせい

A former town in Kudo District, Hokkaido. It is located at the western end of the Oshima Peninsula, facing Okushiri Island. The town is centered around old fishing villages such as Kudo and Kaitorima, and is known for its squid and trout fishing, as well as for its intermediate cultivation of abalone. In agriculture, it produces asparagus, melons, strawberries, and other crops. In September 2005, it merged with Setana Town, Setana District, and Kitahiyama Town to form Setana Town, Kudo District. National Route 229 runs through the town. It has an area of 133.90 ^km2 and a population of 2,588 (2003).

北海道久遠(くどお)郡の旧町。渡島(おしま)半島の西端にあたり，奥尻島に対する。久遠，貝取澗(かいとりま)など古くから開けた漁業集落を中心に，イカ，マスなどの漁獲を行うほか，アワビの中間育成等にも着手している。農業では，アスパラガス，メロン，イチゴなどを産する。2005年９月，瀬棚郡瀬棚町，北檜山町と合併し町制，久遠郡せたな町となる。国道229号線が通じる。133.90km²。2588人（2003）。
