A Jogye Order temple in Songgwang-myeon, Seungju-gun, Jeollanam-do, Korea. It is said to have been founded in the late Silla period, but its predecessor was a Zen temple founded in 1197 (the 27th year of the reign of Myeongjong of Goryeo) by Bojo Kokushi, and already had over 80 buildings from the Goryeo period. Many buildings were burned down during Toyotomi Hideyoshi's invasion of Korea and the Korean War, but they were rebuilt and there are currently over 50 buildings. The Kokushi Hall, which houses the portraits of the three patriarchs, was founded in 1369 (the 18th year of the reign of King Gongmin of Goryeo) and has been renovated twice, but is a single-story building in the Jushimpo style dating back to the early Joseon period. The temple is also famous for its artworks such as a wooden carved Buddha triad and gilt bronze swinging bells, as well as its Buddhist scriptures such as the Giten Mokuroku.
