Atka mackerel

Japanese: ホッケ
Atka mackerel
German critic and writer. Born in Brussels, Belgium. Studied at the universities of Berlin and Bonn, the latter under ER Curtius. After studying Romance languages, he moved to Italy in 1940 to work as a newspaper correspondent and write. His two books on Mannerism, The World as Labyrinth (1957) and Mannerism in Literature (1959), were ambitious works that continued his teacher's academic style and treat Mannerism as a historical constant that constantly opposes the rigidity of classicism, and contributed greatly to its revival. His other works include Despair and Certainty, Diary of Europe, and the novel Magna Graecia.

Atka mackerel

A fish of the Fagus rockfish family. Young fish are called Aobokke and juvenile fish are called Rosokubokke. Adult fish reach a total length of 40 cm. They are mostly found in Hokkaido, but are distributed from southern Sakhalin to the Tsushima Strait and Ibaraki Prefecture. Young fish live in the surface layer and are bluish in color, but as they grow, they live on the bottom and become brownish in color. In the past, they were considered a natural enemy of herring and had little value. However, they are currently produced in large quantities, and are used fresh, as well as for salted Atka mackerel and as an ingredient in paste products.
