People who are thought to be in good health may suddenly groan loudly, usually in the middle of the night while sleeping, and die with their limbs stretched out. This name comes from the suddenness of death. It is most common in men in their 20s and 30s. The cause of death is unknown in most cases. It most often occurs between May and July. Autopsies often reveal coronary artery malformations and adrenal gland abnormalities.
