Also called the Bowin's valve or Bowin's valve, this valve is located at the point where the ileum joins the cecum and ascending colon. It consists of two mucosal folds, the upper lip and the lower lip, which protrude into the cecum and meet at both ends to surround the ileocecal opening from above and below. The ileocecal valve prevents the reflux of the contents of the large intestine into the small intestine.

バウヒン結腸弁あるいはボーアン弁ともいう。回腸が盲腸と上行結腸の境に入る部位にある弁。盲腸内に突出した2枚の粘膜ヒダである上唇と下唇から成り，これら上下の唇はその両端で互いに合し，その間にある回盲結腸口を上下から囲んでいる。回盲弁は大腸内容物の小腸への逆流を防ぐ働きをする。
