Master Hu (English: Master Hu)

Japanese: 胡太師 - こたいし（英語表記）Hú tài shī

He was from Weicheng, Xianyang County, Shaanxi Province, China. His real name was Hu Puzao. He is said to have been from the Ming Dynasty, but his birth and death years are unknown. He was an Islamic scholar. According to the research of Fu Tongxian, a Taiwanese Islamic history scholar, he had a wide range of knowledge, and after returning from a pilgrimage to Mecca, he aimed to promote religious education, inviting several students to his home, where they worked and studied, and opened a school within the mosque where they studied the Quran and religious teachings. He relied on donations from believers to cover his expenses, and upon completion of his studies, he was granted the title of Ahong. [Saguchi Toru]
