A wooden (or stone) deity statue that stands at the entrances of Korean villages and temples. In Chinese characters, it is written as Changjang, Changsaeng, Changseong, or Jangseong. It is also called Jangsaeng marker. Jangseong is called various names in different regions, such as Kolmagi, Susalmagi (central), Boks (southern), and Miruk (northwestern), and its connection to feng shui and Buddhism can be seen. There are male and female pairs and single ones, and they are generally carved with the face of a fearsome general. Male jangseongs have crowns but female ones do not, and the words "Great General of the World" and "Great General of the Earth (female)" are carved or written in ink on the torso. 朝鮮の村里や寺院の入口に立っている木偶(あるいは石)の神像。漢字では長栍,長生,長承,将丞などと表記される。長生標ともいう。チャンスンは各地によって名称が色々で,コルマギ,スサルマギ(中部),ポクス(南部),ミルク(北西部),などとよばれ,風水説や仏教との関係がうかがえる。男女一対のものと単独のものがあり,一般に恐ろしい将軍の面相が彫刻してあり,男チャンスンには冠があるが女にはなく,胴体に天下大将軍,地下大(女)将軍と彫刻または墨書されている。
